The Scott Solace Disc was designed to deliver comfort and performance without sacrificing power transfer and road handling. To achieve this, Scott engineers worked on a construction with two specific zones to improve comfort and power transfer: the Comfort Zone and the Power Zone. They did not stop there, however: the Solace offers Endurance geometry that increases comfort in the saddle even after many hours.

Rough roads, marathon races, long days in the saddle: these are all things the Solace 10 Disc was specifically created for. The HMF carbon fibre frame was designed with two distinct zones, the Power and Comfort Zone, to create a stiff, responsive bike that does not tire you out even after long hours on the road.

This specific dual-zone concept provides greater vertical compliance in the upper section, while the lower section is stiffer to ensure efficiency even on the roughest surfaces. The Oversize bottom bracket gives you a stiff rear triangle with no flex. You can be sure of not losing precious watts even on longer rides over varied surfaces.

Technologies

Tapered Headtube
Scott engineers designed the rear triangle to provide vertical compliance while maintaining excellent torsional stiffness. From the bottom bracket to the dropouts, they created a structure capable of supporting loads without the seatpost, with controlled deformation. When the seatpost was then added to the system, it was designed to follow the same deformation, creating perfect synergy. The same technique was applied to the fork design to achieve the best balance of handling and feel while maintaining precise steering.

Tapered Seattube
The junction between the bottom bracket and seat tube has been widened to ensure high lateral stiffness and maximise power transfer.

Asymmetric Design
The Solace can be described as the perfect balance between power transfer and comfort. To achieve this perfection, the rear triangle has an asymmetric design: the drivetrain, positioned on the right-hand side, affects weight distribution differently. Rather than reinforcing the right side of the rear dropout, which is subject to greater loads, the tube cross-section has been optimised in specific areas.

Oversized bottom bracket
The BB86 Press-Fit bottom bracket is wider than the previous BB to provide greater stiffness and maximise power transfer, also thanks to stronger connections to the seat tube and down tube.

SDS-Shock Damping System
Since most of a road frame's comfort depends on the rear triangle, the SDS (Shock Damping System) was developed to get the best performance from this specific part of the frame. The dropouts are designed to work together with the reduced-diameter seat tube to provide greater compliance and efficiency.

Solace Geometry
The Solace's geometry takes into account the more upright position of endurance riders. This position places less strain on the back and neck and helps riders enjoy long hours in the saddle.

Bi-Zone Construction
The Solace can be seen as the fusion of two parts of the frame. While the Comfort Zone ensures comfortable riding by absorbing vibrations and bumps in the terrain, the Power Zone provides torsional stiffness and maximum performance in transferring power from the pedals to the ground. Clearly, both comfort and power must be considered when developing a bike. Depending on the construction choices, the balance between the two can lead to a reduction in one or the other. This is why Scott engineers spent a great deal of time developing different prototypes and gathering rider feedback. This extensive testing enabled them to find the best balance between comfort and the ability to transfer power to the ground.

SCOTT was founded in 1958 in Sun Valley, USA, by engineer and skier Ed Scott, and is now headquartered in Givisiez, Switzerland. It offers bicycles, e-bikes, clothing and equipment for people who ride. In 1986, it introduced its first mountain bike.
