The new lever design allows single-finger operation, and its shape suits all hand types. The braking piston is now positioned horizontally, while the pivot has been moved further outwards and 5mm higher, changing from a first-class to a second-class lever. Together with the calliper now being lighter and stiffer, this requires 80% less braking force than the previous eTAP AXS. With a carbon lever, the complete assembly is 83 g lighter than the previous generation.

Founded in Chicago in 1987 by Stan Day and a group of cycling enthusiasts, SRAM is still based in the US city today. It makes drivetrains and brakes for road, gravel and mountain bikes. Its story began with a single product: Grip Shift, the shifter that lets riders change gear by twisting the grip.
